
The redevelopments have created new centres where patients can access GP and other primary and community health care services (such as health visitors, district nurses, mental health teams and podiatry) all in one place. These are considered as most needed, with the previous buildings being cramped and not suitable for providing modern health and social care in the 21st century.
These new buildings have provided all the existing services as well as having additional capacity to bring in new services. This has assisted joint working between teams, leading to integration of professional groups and is ultimately leading to improvement in patient care.
